Ray Whiting

So sorry to hear that Ray Whiting ( pictured) has passed away .  Heard this sad news from my good friend Ed Cuffe and now Ray's wife Margaret has rung me..  I had the pleasure of providing the entertainment for this lovely couple's Golden Wedding Anniversary just last March at Kirby St in Ipswich .

A smashing man who will be missed by all his many friends..  R.I.P Ray, you were a real gentleman.

Guitars and Cadilacs Country Music Club,  Knodishall.

Had a smashing night with Ray and Angela ( pictured) who run this friendly and homely Country Music Club.   Not many empty seats which was pleasing and a very appreciative audience made for a lovely night out for me and Susan.  Angela's first action was to bring out the teas and coffees and she finished the night ( after midnight) doing exactly the same adding some snacks and cakes as well.  Really appreciated and may they both , health permitting, carry on bringing people together for these nights out.  A well supported raffle and most people stayed til the end which I certainly appreciated.

Busy September

September looks to be well booked up for gigs.  Coming up is my own club event at The Pat James & Friends Club on Sunday 9th with Bobby Graham. The Ponderosa Club at Claydon is on 14th.   The Lakeside Country music club at Leziate Park follows that on Tuesday 18th followed by Ditchinham Village Hall on the 22nd and Kessingland United Working Mans Club on 23rd.  Claxton Village Hall just outside Norwich completes a busy month.  Hope to see lots of you Country music lovers soon.

Day out at Southwold

Sue and I had a smashing day out at Southwold on Tuesday when visiting Blyth Valley Community radio.   Presenter Chrissie Allen featured me as a guest on her programme and every now and again played tracks from a selection of my CDs.  We were overlooking the sea from a wonderful little hexagonal shaped building which is now used to broadcast transmissions to a radius of around ten miles bringing Halesworth into range.   The station also broadcasts live over a Web site, thereby potentially reaching a very large worldwide audience.  A really lovely experience in the company of Chrissie, Keith and presenter Tony.  A valuable local service that I'm sure is well supported and appreciated by those in the Southwold area. Worth taking a look at the radio's website as it features a 360 degree view from inside the building looking out to sea. www.blythvalleycommunityradio.co.uk

Charity Event at Jubillee Hall, Loddon

Had a fab night at Jubilee Hall, Loddon with this Charity Event for Air Ambulance.   With an attendance of well over 100 people, the total sum raised on the night was £674.97 after all expenses. A wonderful effort by all those who turned out to support this gig.   Susan Jayne, a very popular local singer was in great form and I was pleased to perform a few duets with her.  Lovely to see my mate Terry Mitchell and wife Beth together with around 16 of Terrys friends, including some lovely girls from the Philipines , some of whom gave us all a visual dancing treat.. Terry did the compering for the evening in his usual efficient manner. Well Appreciated Terry.   Great Credit to promoters Eileen and Dick, of R & B entertainments who had organised this terrific event, that was so well supported.  Pictures should appear shortly in my Gallery tab, under Air Ambulance Charity Event 2012.
